Support your community
Throughout the year, YWCA Clark County offers a variety of events and workshops that provide opportunities to support your community.
Our events provide educational, awareness and fundraising opportunities. Program specific workshops engage the community and focus on education and advocacy. Learn more about our workshops at individual program pages or by viewing them on our calendar.
The YWCA’s 19th annual benefit luncheon is a popular event that spotlights our programs and mission, showcases powerful testimony, and engages our community on a deeper level. Plans are developing for the 2013 luncheon. Stay informed about this event and other YWCA activities by liking our page on facebook.
The 2013 event is Wednesday, September 18th at the Hilton Vancouver. Get ready for something new. Wambui Bahati has a dynamic presentation prepared that will inspire guests to Act Now. Be the Change.
Wambui Bahati brings over 45 years of professional theater and public speaking experience to the stage. Her award-winning performances and nationally acclaimed books have gained her numerous awards, including a Woman of Achievement Award from the Greensboro Commission on the Status of Women, a Belle Ringer Image Award from Bennett College, the Lionel Aldridge Award and the President’s Award from the state of North Carolina.
She’s written, produced and starred in two one-woman shows, and has authored three books: You Don’t Know Crazy-My Life Before, During, After, Above and Beyond Mental Illness, Domestic Violence and Relationship Abuse Awareness and Prevention for College Women-A Reminder and They Are Not Going To Save Us.
This September, Wambui will share perspectives on domestic violence with an engaging, dyanamic and empowering performance. Regarding final impressions, she shares, “The one impression I wish to leave upon my audience is that they are more wonderful, powerful and magnificent than they give themselves credit for.”

Classic Wines Auction
YWCA Clark County partners with the Classic Wines Auction (CWA) to present a fantastic fundraising event that includes a gala auction, winemaker dinners, and Ambassador’s Dinner. Funds raised from these events support the work of non-profit organizations such as Metropolitan Family Service, New Avenues for Youth, Friends of the Children – Portland, Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel and YWCA Clark County.
Classic Wines Auction started when a small group of friends raising funds for Portland Metropolitan Family Service formed a non-profit entity in 2004 after experiencing an overwhelmingly positive response from Wine Spectator magazine and the community. According to a 2010 article in Wine Spectator magazine, CWA is one of the top ten charity wine auctions in the United States. The auction continues to gain support, and consistently raises more than $2.2 million annually.
