![]() val joshuaVal Joshua has been a committed member of our community and has given what she calls “many pleasurable hours of community service dedicated to our fellow men and women.” Organizations that have benefited from her volunteer work include the USA Singers, the BRAVO Choral, the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the NAACP, the Human Rights Commission in Vancouver and the YWCA. Val has volunteered with the YWCA W.O.R.T.H. Program (Women Offenders Rehabilitation and Help) every Tuesday afternoon since the program’s inception in 1973. The Val Joshua Racial Justice Award was created in 1989 to recognize Val Joshua’s lifelong commitment to and work for the elimination of racism. In addition to volunteering, she taught at the Washington State School for the Deaf in Vancouver for 22 years. Val and her husband Joseph Joshua II raised six children in the community. |
