Please join us for a celebration of “25 years of wine working wonders”!

In March 2009, the Classic Wines Auction will celebrate twenty-five years and raising over $19.5 million for children and families in our community. What began in the early 1980s as a few friends getting together and raising $9,000 has become a week of events now raising over $3 million and annually helping over 42,000 children and families throughout the Portland Metropolitan Area and SW Washington.

YWCA Clark County is excited about our second year of participation in this extraordinary event. Planning has begun for the 25th Anniversary Classic Wines Auction to be held Saturday, March 7, 2009, and it is sure to be another unparalleled event. Board members Kayla Tiano and Kelly Walsh are working with Jeanne Firstenburg and Dawn Stanchfield on the Classic Wines Auction steering, procurement and sponsorship committees.

The auction will again benefit our YWCA Clark County, offering life-changing services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and homelessness; and four other outstanding local charities including:

  1. Metropolitan Family Service, which helps to strengthen families and individuals while enhancing their participation in community life;
  2. New Avenues for Youth, which helps homeless youth overcome tragic childhoods, exit the streets and become productive members of our community;
  3. Friends of the Children, a mentoring program providing at-risk children with sustained adult role models;
  4. Trillium Family Services, providing family-centered, mental health services for children and families. By supporting such a variety of organizations, CWA and its supporters have the opportunity to vastly impact the lives of children and families across a wide spectrum of needs.

If you have interest in sponsorship, donating items for the auction, attending or volunteering, please contact Kathy Deschner, YWCA Director of Development, at 360-906-9123 or kdeschner@ywcaclarkcounty.org.
