Current Needs

New In-kind donations are always needed!

If you wish to donate to the Independent Living Skills, Sexual Assault, WORTH, or Y’s Care Programs, you can take your donation to our front desk (3609 Main Street, Vancouver, WA 98663), open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Our greatest need is for shelter items, and we are now requesting that donations intended for the SafeChoice Shelter be arranged by calling 360-695-2655 x250. Please let us know if you want your donation to go to a specific program. Your donation is tax-deductible and we are happy to provide you with a receipt if you wish.

SafeChoice Domestic Violence Shelter
The shelter houses women, teens (including teen boys), children, and babies.

  • Major Electric Appliances: We do not accept these items.
  • Furniture and Televisions: Accepted only on an as-needed basis; please call ahead.
  • Food: Non-expired. The shelter is unable to accept home canning foods.
  • Gently Used Items: Acceptable for household/kitchen items, bedding, clothing, toys, games, arts and crafts, entertainment for children and teens (no violent toys, books, movies or games, please).
  • New Items: Paper products, cleaning supplies, hygiene items, personal care items, underwear, pajamas, socks, bras, school supplies
  • Other Items in Need: Bus passes, gift card for gas or groceries, stamps, diapers, wipes, phone cards.
  • Specific needs lists: Kauffman Transitional House Needs, Top Shelter Needs, Infants and Children, Youth, Food , Household Items, Personal Care Items, Misc. Items, School Supplies.

Independent Living Skills (ILS) Program

  • ILS needs NEW bedding, bath towels, gift cards for clothing stores, school supplies, books, movies, games, and personal care items for young men and women ages 15-21.

WORTH program

  • WORTH needs fabric, thread, sewing supplies, and NEW women’s underwear, socks and bras.

Y’s Care

  • The Y’s Care program accepts NEW art supplies, pull-up diapers and baby wipes for children ages 2½ to 5.

Sexual Assault Program

  • The program accepts journals for women and teen girls, plus bus passes, gas cards and grocery store gift cards.

All programs

  • Cell phones: We accept used cell phones (with chargers). No service plan is needed; our program participants use these as 911-only emergency phones. These should be donated at the front desk.
