programs

The mission of YWCA Clark County is to build a community of peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people. The YWCA focuses on empowering women, preventing violence, and eliminating oppression.

The YWCA strives to fulfill its mission and transform lives using the following programs:

  • CASA: Providing advocacy for neglected, abused or abandoned children involved in the court and foster care system.
  • ILS: Helping youth in foster care, ages 16-21, identify and acquire skills they will need as they transition from state-supported care to independent living.
  • SafeChoice: Serving victims of domestic violence by providing a 24-hour crisis line, shelter, a children's advocacy program, legal advocacy, counseling, support groups and community education.
  • Y's Care: Serving homeless children ages 2.5 to 5, providing early childhood education and licensed, nurturing child care while parents attend to family needs and seek housing, financial assistance, and employment.
  • SAP: Serving victims of sexual assault and their families through 24-hour advocacy, individual therapy, support groups and community education.
  • WORTH: Providing support and advocacy to women who are incarcerated and transitioning back into the community.

Statistics show that YWCA Clark County provides services to more than 10,000 women, children and families each year.

  • Approximately 860 abused, abandoned and neglected children in Clark County had a voice in court through the dedication of CASAs (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
  • 60 youth aging out of foster care were mentored, supported and taught through the Independent Living Skills program.
  • Approximately 10,000 bednights were provided for women and children at the SafeChoice shelter, without fee.
