become a mentor
The Independent Living Skills (ILS) Program helps youth and young adults in foster care (ages 15 to 21) identify and acquire skills they will need and set realistic goals as they transition from state-supported care to independent living.
Volunteers in the ILS Program can provide support by serving as guest facilitators, program support at special events, individual college tutors, and doing program outreach in the community. Guest facilitators are individuals who have an interest or expertise in an area of independent living (i.e. housing, education, employment), who would like to present to a grop of youth and/or facilitate a workshop. Outreach volunteers can help participants gain access to area employment and housing options.
